Reviews
The parking lot was rebuilt in 2024. The parking lot and part of the trail washed away in the flood of 2022. You’ll need to take the stock trail first to bypass the damaged part of the trail. It leads back to the main trail up ahead.
Went as far as could go on the trail as a good portion of the trail has been washed out. Beautiful scenery along the trail.
Update 8-7-2023: The road is open to the campground which is open. You have to walk into the trailhead. The trail through the canyon is gone, but the bypass horse trail is open.
2022: The road to Sioux Charlie Lake and Woodbine Campground is still closed at the mine just past Nye. Local rumors have it that this year’s massive flooding completely took out Sioux Charlie Lake. Hopefully, the road will be fixed next year, and we can all check it out.
A beautiful and easy hike that follows Stillwater Creek. The path was rocky and had areas of ice in January 2021 but this didn’t prevent you from hiking. The views were pretty exceptional and it was nice being able to drive roughly an hour and a half from Billings.
This trail is so beautiful and don’t worry, there’s quite a few people on this trail every day so if you get into trouble, you won’t be far from someone! If your an outdoors type, you will love this trail and all it offers!
