If you’re searching for beautiful pet-friendly trails in North Stonington, Connecticut, Avalonia TriTown Preserve is an excellent choice for dog-friendly hiking. This preserve is known for its well-marked blue trail, offering a mix of terrain and scenic views, perfect for active dogs and their owners. Dog owners regularly mention the welcoming and engaging landscape, with plenty of shade along the trails and benches to relax at intervals.
While there’s no dedicated fenced dog run, dogs will enjoy exploring these wooded trails on-leash. The preserve is cared for by local volunteers who continuously improve the park, making it a friendly and welcoming spot for repeat visits. The informative trail pages add a local, educational touch, enhancing the experience for first-time visitors. Please note the small parking area, as it may fill quickly during peak times.
Easy trails, well marked, and didnt need to wear my hiking boots for it. The day we went it was hot but this trail provides plenty of shade and wasnt too buggy. Dogs will love this spot!
If this review is for the parking specifically then I give it four stars only because the park stewards are working with what they got. The parking area is small for such an amazing park and often leads to people needing to park in the side of the street. The park itself is outstanding! Well marked trails with varying difficulty. The park stewards are always working to improve the trails and make it an enjoyable experience. They are all volunteers!
I hiked the blue trail for the first time and absolutely loved it! There was a great view and even benches to relax on every so often. The terrain was mixed, which kept it interesting. I also liked the informative pages that would randomly pop up along the trail. The trail was marked very well, which was helpful since everything was covered with leaves.
I had a great time! I made friends with a squirrel who was awfully kind. The nuts in the area of the preserve had to have some extra juice to them, because my buddy was amped! Can’t wait to go again soon!
Blue trail. Well marked. Nice variety of terrain. Evidence of mud, but dry today. Lots of mosquitoes and biting flies.
