🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions
If you’ve spent time at an off-leash park, you’ve probably seen it:A parent strolls in with a stroller 🚼 or […]
Located in the heart of North Ridgeville, Ohio, North Ridgeville Parks Shady offers a spacious and scenic environment perfect for both dog owners and their furry friends. The park features a large football field, multiple baseball diamonds, and a paved walking trail that circles the complex, making it a great spot for pet-friendly walks and outdoor recreation. Shady Drive’s serene setting and well-maintained paths provide a welcoming destination for those seeking dog-friendly hiking and an active lifestyle with their pets.
While not a dedicated off-leash dog park, dogs are commonly seen in the area, especially enjoying walks on the new paved trail. Families can also benefit from playgrounds and kid-friendly amenities, though note that upkeep may vary throughout the year. Parking has recently been expanded to accommodate spring and summer visitors, and the park gets busier during baseball season. With its beautiful horseshoe trail and dog-friendly vibe, North Ridgeville Parks Shady is a go-to destination for walking dogs in North Ridgeville and enjoying outdoor fun with the whole family.
Nice big space with a full sized football field and a paved walking trail around the baseball fields. Only wish they did a better job with the playground upkeep.
A clean park with multiple baseball diamonds. The biggest problem is people let their dogs off leash daily so you cannot go there with a leash reactive or dog reactive pet. Lots or pokestops there if you are into that sort of thing.
It is a beautiful baseball complex.
The reason I was there was not for a game but because the city Lion’s club has a shed there. We were out there counting eyeglasses to be recycled (the mission of the Lions Clubs is “vision”…so we collect used glasses and sunglasses… look for a box in various locations… there will be a Lions Club International logo on the box). We counted well over 1000 pair of glasses/sunglasses.
To those who donate… we THANK YOU!
For a city park hosting a huge softball tournament, the lack of upkeep to the fields is shameful. It’s bracket Sunday and on field 9, the pitching circle has a hole at least 8-10” deep, third base isn’t secure, the batters boxes have deep holes … it’s an embarrassment.
Right now baseball hasn’t started, so there are few people there. It is an excellent place to walk dogs or just have a good walk. The new walking trail is lovely to walk on. Once baseball starts the concession stands will open. There are fields for T-ball as well as regulation fields, so Shady Drive will be a very busy place soon. The walking trail goes around the complex. Parks & Rec is adding more parking for the spring and summer over flow. If you like walking or baseball, Shady Drive is the place for you.
