Checkerboard Dog Park offers local dog owners a spacious, fenced-in area where pups can socialize and run off-leash. Located conveniently at 390th St in North Branch, MN, this dog park features scenic pet-friendly trails through grassy fields and wooded areas, making it a popular choice for those seeking dog-friendly hiking and outdoor fun. The park’s unique feature is its natural pond and rustic terrain, providing variety for adventurous canines—though the swimming area can get muddy and is sometimes unsuitable for swimming depending on the season.
In addition to its off-leash area, Checkerboard Dog Park is equipped with picnic tables, a covered pavilion, public restrooms, and a playground—making it ideal for families, gatherings, and picnics with your dog. With wheelchair accessible parking and entrances, wide open spaces, trails, and ample seating, it’s a great pet-friendly destination year-round. While there are some challenges with mud and trail maintenance, and visitors are encouraged to clean up after their dogs, the park retains charm as a community favorite for both regulars and new visitors.

I love bringing Daphne to this dog park. I had taken my other Ol English Bulldog to this park at the end of her years. And now I am making new memories with Daphne.
Great dog park. Big enough for dogs too run- Also has trails around the pond to walk around with you dog. Don’t let your dogs go in the water. My dog got Gardia from this place. Also People don’t pick up poop so be weary of that here. Otherwise I’d give this place 4 stars
