Trailhead parking is open, but the actual niwot trail loop is currently closed. Detour is through the LoBo trail.

Niwot loop is a well maintained local loop with amazing view of Rocky mountain, it is good for running, cycling and walking, it will take about 1 to 1.5 hours for running depending your speed and the actual loop, today I took 71 minutes to finish the smaller loop with 5.88 miles, larger loop may be 6 miles or bit longer, 80% of the loop without shades, together with 100 °F temperature, you might be easy to be dehydrated, make sure take enough drinking water with you. Niwot is a small town, seems not extraordinary, while the house prices are almost highest in Denver metropolitan area.

I ran this trail while in town and Enjoyed its beautiful views. If you are in town this is a great path to walk or run on. It’s well manicured and was easy to follow.

Beautiful and peaceful trail. Plenty of trees. Trail is flat and wide. It’s more of a network of trails than a loop. You can easily make it a longer or shorter hike. However the trail system is not very clearly marked. This is our first time there and we could not find the “loop”. Be aware of bobcats. We saw three in the bush away from the parking lot

Not bad for being so close to Boulder, but there is a lot of development right next to the trail.
