FAQ for Rocky Neck State Park in Niantic Connecticut:
🏕 Camped here via tent in early September. Not crowded at all. The bathrooms 🚻 at the tent campsites were closed, yet Porto potties 🧻 were located in the parking lot . 🚮 Garbage and recycling bins were located in the parking lot as well. Potable water 🚰 was available close by. Showers 🚿 were accessible by the beach. Each site has a fire pit🔥. Nicely maintained campground. Quiet. 🤫. I would recommend bringing a cart 🛞 bc parking was a slight distance from the tent sites. No outlets, 🪫🔌so here’s your chance to immerse yourself in the present and put down your phone. 🌌 The beach 🏖 is a slight trek from the campsite. It’s a pleasant walk though. You’ll witness egrets, cormorants, ducks, guys and guls, Osprey and grebes. Bring binoculars 🐦⬛🪿🦆🦅. Also stay on the trail 👣, if not, I hope you aren’t allergic to poison ivy☘️. The marsh is entertaining. Its full of life. The beach is gorgeous 🌅 The waves are subtle, making it perfect for families 🧑🧑🧒🧒. There wasn’t a lifeguard on duty🛟. The water was pretty shallow for a long distance. There were some black flies on the beach 🪰 I didn’t have an issue with them, but my buddy did. There is a amtrak train 🚅 that runs behind the beach. There were lots of small fish🐟, a variety of crabs 🦀🐚🦐 and snails 🐌. All n all, I’d come back here again.
Surprising location with informative staff that were helpful with a map and location of concession area. We arrived to find a bathroom and some information about the area. But we’re surprised by the beach access below the commuter train rail. Nice spot, we are planning our return visit.
Ideal getaway for creating unforgettable memories with friends or family. Whether you’re soaking up the sun, playing beach games, or enjoying a picnic by the shore, this beach offers a perfect escape for everyone. Come and experience the beauty and joy that awaits!
We enjoyed our camping experience, as well as our time on the beach in this popular Connecticut Shoreline destination. The campsites are plentiful somewhat spacious though it can be noisy due to the road and proximity of other campsites it’s also not the most private of camping experiences however, with that being said a short walk or drive to the beach is a plus. The beach is compact. The sand is soft a bit rocky when you get in the water but all in all and enjoyable experience.
We rented a spot to spend some quiet and quality time with the family. We had access to the beach as well and it was an amazing time. Being able to park the van next to the camp site was a plus so I didn’t have to carry all the stuff over a long distance. My attitude was adjusted and made great memories with the family.
