Absolutely terrific, very large, park that’s great for both families looking to play sports or nature lovers wanting to escape the city-esque Newton! Just sitting on one of the many benches and listening to the birds chirping was very serene and beautiful. Ate my lunch there, it was very peaceful and not too many people either.
I’ve also been here with Newton Conservator’s Invasive Pulls so highly reccommend to residents! Get involved in your community and give back to our natural parks 💞
Amenities: 3 tennis courts, 4 basketball courts, a very large soccer field, and softball field with a willow tree! Also an exercise structure which i thought was neat. In June-October Newton’s weekly farmers markets take place, I’ve personally never been, but I’d suggest to people passing by to make a pit-stop if you can.
Also upon entering, spotted their pollinator garden which was really cool– and Green Newton’s sustainability tic-tac-toe board 😉

Highlights – Definitely a great walking loop in convenient proximity to town. Wide walking paths help avoid all potential tick exposures. Mostly under shade of trees, so cool on a hot day. There is a fantastic, open grassy area within Cold Spring is dedicated as a dog park. Always easy to find parking. Weekly summer farmer’s market there. Tennis and basketball courts, workout equipment as well as a large soccer field.
Drawbacks – gets a little muddy after wet weather. Also, one area of the walking loop has a somewhat steep dirt path which may be challenging for elderly walkers.
Overall a favorite walk in Newton.
Edit – A local Eagle Scout created stairs to make the steep part of the loop more accessible to all.

This is a great local park with simple trails, minimal incline areas, a dog park, a few fields (soccer) tennis courts, water ponds and streams.
The trails and park is well kept with a few muddy areas during the rainy seasons. It’s been wetter than usual the last few seasons so there’s an accumulation of water along the trail from flooding. Worth note to bring some waterproof boots or shoes if you can for the rainy days but that’s part of nature.
The dog park is popular with friendly dogs always coming through throughout the day. Everyone cleans up pretty well so there’s not poo everywhere.
There is also plenty of parking in the main entrance, and there are farmers markets during the warmer seasons on Saturdays.
Recommend for all, old to young.
