The Nolan Trail is a beautiful 5 mile loop with moderate foot traffic but still offers a peaceful escape. We enjoyed the scenic outlooks and spotted deer, birds, and turtles. It’s a great option for families with kids who can walk the full loop. We found painted rocks hidden along the path, which added a fun and creative element.

Very nice 5 mi loop on a gentle undulating trail, primarily around water. Trail includes around 13 Bridges and generally away from noise except for a few spots where it gets near the road but only for a short distance.

BLUF: 5 miles, very well marked, some hills, lots of free parking along the route, lots of benches to rest on and viewing points to admire.

Great for hiking with dogs, but plan ahead. Leash required. No water stations. But there are couple park areas for off lead exercise. The Marine Museum is lovely, but not dog friendly. No access to public toilets.
No drinking water areas along the trail. The museum does have a port-a-pot in the main parking lot for public use.

This is a fantastic trail to visit if you live in Hampton Roads! I will warn you that it’s 5 miles long so just be weary of the markers along the way to know how far you want to go. It was a really pretty and warm day in January when I went and the view of the water is gorgeous. There’s quite a few twists and turns and it’s not a flat or paved trail so prepare for some bumps along the way but nothing treacherous. You get to cross several bridges that are numbered and there are a few looking areas as well. All in all I think this is a must visit park in the 757! I went in from the North Entrance next to the museum so there was plenty of parking.
