I always sit by this pond. It’s very relaxing and I like to clear my mind here or stay here when waiting for others. I don’t think this side (in the photos) necessarily gets crowded. Or at least everytime I come its not busy so it’s not overwhelming here.

I ambitiously thought I would ‘do’ (all) of Central Park. I started here and only covered the southern bit of the amazing respite from the ‘Concrete Jungle’ and tourism traps I escaped from for a few, blissful, hours.

Tucked near the 59th Street East Side entrance, The Pond is a dreamy little hideaway in the middle of Manhattan madness. It’s super scenic with lots of benches, big rocks to perch on, and even grassy spots perfect for laying out a picnic blanket. You’ll spot ducks, geese, turtles, and other little critters doing their thing. It’s like a mini wildlife show right in the city. (Super close to Central Park Zoo- even more wildlife) Whether you’re here to relax, journal, or just breathe, this spot delivers all the peace with a side of nature magic.

Great morning birding at The Pond at Central Park. Quiet, with many dog walkers, cyclist and runners. Wide paved paths with great views. Wish there was better signage and the Hallett Nature Sanctuary was open but overall very enjoyable especially so early in morning before crowds arrived. Highly recommend having a map because lots of great trails, etc. 21 species observed covering 1.35 miles in just under an hour.
