Peter Detmold Dog Run is a cozy urban dog park located at 455 E 51st St in New York City, offering a welcome retreat for pups and their owners amid midtown Manhattan. This fenced dog run is lined with mature trees providing ample shade, and features a quiet ambiance due to its location at a dead-end street near the East River. Dog owners appreciate its tranquil atmosphere and enjoy scenic river views, including the NYC skyline and Roosevelt Island, from the bridge above the park.
The Peter Detmold Dog Run consists mainly of dirt and gravel – there is no grass – and is situated adjacent to city traffic, which may pose some noise but also means great accessibility for local residents. While it is a great spot for letting your dog off-leash in a secure space, be aware that there are no public restrooms available. It’s a great stop for residents of Midtown East seeking a convenient, dog-friendly area to socialize their pets in New York, NY.
The best service and food! The staff is very friendly and attentive 5 stars, the food is incredible I recommend the entire menu!
Cool little dog park between some high rent apartments and the east river. Lots of trees, no grass. 6 lanes of traffic right next to it is the only bummer.
A crazy woman physically abused my dog by picking him up and threw him in the air. Be aware of the criminals here
Some dog owners would not put their dogs on leash and play with them outside of the dog run. Not good especially there are little kids playing in the park. the overpass leading to the east river bank is a good place to appreciate river view and Roosevelt Island across the river.
Today I took a walk around this area and visited the Peter Detmold Dog Run on 51st st at the East River. Dead end street so very quiet until you get close the FDR. I took these pictures from the bridge over the dog park so you can also see the river and skyline of Queens. Went today around 4pm and it was not busy, only 4-5 people with dogs.
