Mount Sinai West - New York, NY

I am in a waiting room while my mother is in the emergency room. I am waiting for my mother to be seen and be evaluated and I walk to the back where my mother is located and the floors are very dirty. The floors have not been swept or mopped in a very long time. I’ve never seen a hospital floor so dirty. I was very surprised. I also trying to understand why the security staff is watching their phone and the volume is extremely loud!!!
Look at these floors. It’s disgusting.

I would leave a zero star review if I could. My mother was just in this hospital first in emergency then was admitted. She’s elderly and was in an acutely scary situation. Once admitted she was treated worse than someone who hates dogs might treat a dog. She begged for a sponge bath and was placated each time she asked just for that decency but ultimately ignored. Finally after all of that ignoring, we insisted on a shower. I had to be the one to give it to her there. And I did. No female nurse assistance. I also was the one to have to remove the pads they stick leads on for – the nurse instructed that I needed to do that. I wiped the blood that dripped from her hand after the iv came out. She’s a fall risk. I had to get her into the shower and that was hard and dangerous after too with water on the floor. But the worst part was when I got her from the bed, puddles of urine (a lot) were where she had been lying. No one checked. No one cared. I consider this inhumane. If you care about your loved ones, think twice about allowing them to go here.

Needed to get some shots and visited the ER around noon on thursday. There was nobody waiting and i was seen pretty much immediately (though the ER filled up shortly after). The staff were all super nice and made me feel right at home. I had to do a few blood draws, and I’m so glad that Eric Quito did the work. He was great, funny, and I didn’t feel any pain the first time the blood was drawn despite being absolutely terrified by needles. I loved the care and attention he provided and appreciate all the medical staff at Mount Sinai for the professional and wonderful patient experience.

Needless to say, I hope to never come back.

Waited 4+ hours after burning my hand on a 400° hot pan handle only to be told they’ll give me stronger pain meds, lidocaine & a burn specialist referral. The pain meds? 600mg of Motrin. What a joke. I told them I took 2 500mg of Tylenol extra strength. It took an hour to be given the treatment by the nurse after the doctors saw me. This place seems so disorganized and there’s no privacy when you’re being seen or asked to confirm your private details, having been put in a room with other patients. What a waste of time. Are there any good ERs in NYC? 🤦🏽‍♀️

I had the most amazing delivery experience at MSW.

I had a scheduled induction, and the L&D team was incredible. From start to finish, I felt so well attended. As a nervous first time mom who needed a Foley balloon and Pitocin, the anesthesiologists alleviated so much pain with the epidural and regular check-ins. Our nurse Erika was a star; she kept me entertained and distracted throughout the entire process so I didn’t freak out. She was knowledgeable, intuitive and so kind, even taking photos we’ll cherish for the rest of our lives throughout the delivery; I truly don’t know what I would’ve done without her. Last in L&S, my delivery with Dr Thornton from Viva Eve was seamless and relatively painless. He knew exactly when to push me and when to give me a second to recuperate. Lisa helped get me, dad and baby wrapped and ready for our final destination, and she was so sweet. I am so grateful to the entire team who helped for their support and brilliance.

Moving to the postpartum room, I was shocked at how nice the single room was. It felt brand new, well maintained, and perfectly private to enjoy our new sweetie. Visiting hours were 9-9 with flexibility on # of visitors and how many guests in the room during daytime hours. Meals were ordered on the TV, the bed was comfy, and the staff regularly evaluated me and baby and restocked the room with every supply I could ever need. We even got a huge goodie bag to go home with, filled with mama and baby supplies.

From Monday @ 1AM – Wednesday @ 12:30PM (we were excited to check out early and get to our own bed), we had the most amazing and beautiful delivery experience as first time parents. We will forever be grateful to the team at MSW for this gift. ❣️
