🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions
If you’ve spent time at an off-leash park, you’ve probably seen it:A parent strolls in with a stroller 🚼 or […]
Sharon’s Bench, nestled near New Windsor, New York, is a unique spot that combines pet-friendly hiking with stunning Hudson Valley views. Known for its dog-friendly trails and scenic vantage point, this destination attracts both seasoned hikers and casual walkers—with dogs in tow! The park’s white trail leads you up a challenging, rocky, and at times muddy incline for panoramic vistas at the top, making it a favorite among dog owners seeking adventure outside of the city.
While there is a playground, pickleball courts, and ample open space nearby, Sharon’s Bench itself is best known for its peaceful outlook and memorial bench, often decorated by local visitors. Ample parking, well-maintained grounds, and shaded areas make this a comfortable and welcoming spot for families and their pups. While there are ample opportunities for leashed dog walking and picnics, this isn’t a traditional fenced dog park but instead a scenic stop perfect for on-leash exercise and relaxation.
Old bench. But nice view
Great views! Benches in good shape. Right off the Trestle Trail.
I was here on Sharon’s birthday. Heartwarming to see someone had left flowers. Rest in peace
Beautiful scenery from this vantage point, but be warned, bees like to nest underneath the bench, they won’t bother you if you leave them alone but there were definitely a few of them when I visited with my family in April. My wife and son couldn’t stay for long due to all the buzzing around…..so the real takeaway from this mountain is the STEEP challenging climb.
Not for beginners! trail is steep all the way up, on top of that the trail is VERY rocky and can get muddy at some points (im talking ankle deep mud)
Overall…..awesome trail but challenging.
Very steep climb at the beginning but don’t let that dissuade you from the trail. Gotta take the white trail (right at the fork) to get there. Dog friendly.
