Was a lucky shot finding something to do this weekend and then we were making a U-turn to go to ocean beach, and found this gem.

Cute little spot if you don’t want to head to a crowded beach or pay for parking. There’s a park/playground across the street. I saw a couple grills and a picnic table. I did see a Porta potty but didn’t check it out. It was located at the park. Street parking. Overall clean.

Pros: free, nice view & when we went 1st Thurs in June there was only a handful of people.Cons: off a main street so you hear all vehicles driving by.Unlike review from the person a month ago, the bathrooms in blue building to the right, were closed. Not even a sign by 2nd door saying ladies room so it was just assumed. There was a bait store just past blue building & woman took pity on me. She had a private bathroom & one outside on porch with a sign saying “restrooms” That to me looked like one for shoppers but either way she was kind enough to let me use it.The beach had a lot of wooden debris (large & small)

Also locally known as Buttler’s Beach this is the only free public beach located in New London. This small beach has lifeguards during summer dates, as well as bathrooms, showers, changing rooms and wheelchair access to the water. There’s a small pavilion over looking the water with picnic tables next to the beach. A small parking lot is located right across the street and right next to a playscape and field with multiple picnic tables as well. There’s also street parking.

Just a really cool small harborside beach that is free and has lifeguards in the summer. Shaded pavilion area is great for a picnic. Right now (summer 2019) there’s some serious construction happening, so the views and smells aren’t as nice, but I’m guessing it’ll be very pleasant when finished. There’s a small playground with swings across the street for kids.
