Cascade Park is a local gem in New Castle, Pennsylvania, offering pet-friendly trails and beautiful surroundings for both people and their furry companions. Known for its historic remnants from an old amusement park, the area provides a peaceful escape with scenic hiking trails, picnic spots, and opportunities to explore nature. The park is especially popular for dog-friendly hiking, making it a wonderful place to spend time outdoors with your pet.
While the park does not have a dedicated fenced dog area, it features open walkways, lush shade, and plenty of natural beauty, including a stunning waterfall and creek. Owners should be aware that restrooms are limited to port-a-potties, and there is a children’s playground nearby. There is parking available, but it’s a good idea to check the area for hazards like broken glass before letting your pet out. Cascade Park remains a favorite for locals and visitors seeking a dog-friendly outing in a unique historic setting.
Cascade park is a treasure. I wish there was better play equipment and more for children to do.
August 22, 2025: We spent an early afternoon at Cascade Park yesterday. The children had a wonderful time on the old wooden playset and the newer tall tower set. It looks like a red tire swing was installed. It was popular. We had a nice meeting down in the Grove, be sure to bring wet towels to wipe down the picnic tables! Very important. We walked back along the creek to explore. They children were active and engaged.
There was broken glass were I parked. I moved what I could. I need to put a dust pan and hand broom in my car for next time. I still believe Cascade Park is a lovely respite in New Castle. We are fortunate to have this lovely, natural park. It needs to be preserved, protected and treated with respect.

This is a very nice location to take a walk and spend some time with family and friends as you look at what remains of an old amusement park. There are some concession stands to get drinks/snacks at and a lot of nature to explore. If you look closely at the water below the waterfall, there was a golden fish of some sort when we were there. It is a pretty peaceful and calm location to go to

The areas surrounding the park offer a nice walk, and the historic buildings left over from the old park are cool to see. There are picnic tables and places to fish and a playground for the kiddos. However, there are only port-a-potties that weren’t very clean. And, unfortunately, not much telling visitors about the history of the park.
