Great RTT bike path. Very good shape and well maintained. Nice long stretches between crossing, can get up good head of steam.
Very scenic trail from Nelsonville to 11 mile marker. There was a porta-potty there that needed service badly. A bench and info kiosk there also. Most restrooms appear to be located close to Athens section–we didn’t ride there.
Trailhead here is not well marked, though GPS will take you right to it. It’s basically the parking lot of the Rocky company. The trail was flat and paved, which was nice, but was fairly underwhelming. Probably nice for the locals, but not necessarily a destination spot unless you’re just just looking for a flat trail to get some mileage in. It more or less follows the river, but you can’t really access the river, and I was hoping for some areas along the way to stop, picnic, etc. I did feel relatively safe on the trail, but overall just a basic bike path.
It’s a nice trail I just don’t like the crossroads. I also don’t like the fact that it’s supposed to be a nature trail a large portion of it I’m looking at people’s backyards and a trailer park.
Very well maintained walking/bike trail.I started at the trailhead behind the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway Depot to State Route 691. In that short distance there are so many things that are scenic and interesting that I would like to come back and visit.
