Winnebago County Dog Park

Winnebago County Dog Park is a well-maintained, wheelchair accessible dog park featuring separate areas for small and large dogs. The park includes a pleasant wooded section with paths, several benches, water bowls, and amenities like a port-a-potty and trash bins. While the park is praised for its cleanliness and quiet atmosphere, some areas can get muddy and the fence may not be fully secure for dogs who try to escape. The parking lot is spacious and newly paved, making it convenient for visitors. Overall, it’s a favorite spot for local dog owners.
Reviews
Mostly pretty clean, mostly good owners, a nice wooded area for those of us with squirrel obsessed dogs. Can get a little mucky, but good park overall.
Made the trip to this new dog park from Hilbert. My coonhound was able to breach the fence and cross Ehlers road. A very nice park goer left his dog and went on foot to look for mine. Thankfully my daughter and this good samaritan spotted our dog crossing back over the busy road and we safely got our dog into our van. We won’t be back. The fence is not secure to the ground, it’s just too risky. The terrain is rough going if you’re trying hurry and search for your dog.
It’s still a relatively new dog park, and it doesn’t look entirely finished. I like it because it’s quieter than other dog parks, although that might change as it gets more established and popular. There is a small wooded section with a trail that my dogs love.
My two year old dog and I love this dog park!
It has a big dog side and a small dog area for separating. There is a nice parking lot that was just repaved as well as 2 dumpsters and a toilet.
We have never run into any issues with other dogs or humans at this park. There is a wooded area that my dog likes when it’s super sunny. The grass is always mowed nice and short as well.
To update some of the older reviews:
– there are now 3 benches evenely spaced on the larger side, and one on the small dog side
– the wooded area has nice paths going through it
– still gets muddy in areas (see below)
A few things to keep in mind/consider:
– the double gates between big/small sides can be pushed open by dogs (I have experienced this more than once), so keep an eye on that
– there are a few places that collect water: on the west side of the small hill by the entrance (this is always the worst and is more of a small pond), and by the double gate connecting big/small sides) my dog always gets muddy!
– there are water bowls scattered around but no way to fill them up unless you bring water
Overall it’s our favorite park! And hopefully more improvements will be made over time to make it even more enjoyable!
I saw here, on Google that this park claims sea at 11pm. It closes actually at 10pm. But I did not see that until I was leaving at 11pm. Other than that, we loved this park. It’s really set up nicely with a small wooded area with paths, and quite a few little areas with a bench and a water bowls so it would be easy to go sit in one of those and not have the next dogs that are coming to the park able to see you right away and come running at your dog. It has a smaller area that’s separate as well so smaller dogs can play away from the big dogs if you want. And it even has a port-a-potty which not one dog park I’ve been to so far has one of those. I liked that park. It would really be nice if it was open all night. Some of us only have after 10pm to take our furry friends to play. But so far, It’s the best Dog Park I’ve been to yet. I highly recommend it.
