Shelby Dog Park, located at Shelby Ave & S. 20th Street, is a spacious and well-loved dog park in the heart of Nashville, TN. This dog-friendly spot offers a large, open area for pups of all breeds and sizes to run and play off-leash. One of the remarkable features of Shelby Dog Park is the ample space—perfect for active dogs and breeds that love to sprint, making it a top choice among dog parks in Nashville. There’s a water source available for pups, though visitors may want to bring extra water on particularly hot days. The park’s welcoming community of responsible dog owners, along with numerous resting benches and a shaded gazebo, ensure a comfortable visit for dog parents and their furry friends.
We took our 2 dogs to this dog park very regularly for 2 years since it used to be walking distance from where we lived. We never had a single issue besides one incident where the owner came to grab them immediately. Our dogs loved it & pregnant me appreciated all of the benches.
Nice, spacious area for pups of all sizes to run and play. Enough room for there to be 10+ separate packs of dogs playing.
If you have a Greyhound or similar breed, there’s enough room for them to get up to full speed and get their exercise in.
Very few dog fights, but when they do happen, the people that frequent the park are amicable and practical about the dust-up.
Great Big Park in the middle of the city, Nashville wouldn’t be the same without it!
Great dog park. Nice, responsible owners. All dogs seem to be spayed/neutered. Has water but no hose attachments for pool or buckets which means on hot summer days it’s best to bring a jug of water.
Beautiful walking park. Dog park area as well. Benches for resting. Small pond and train crossing over a bridge in the distance. Piano under a gazebo. Just a lovely take.
