FAQ for Mt. Pleasant Pet Resort in Mt Pleasant Texas:
I brought our small dog in for a nail trim. She weighs about 17 pounds. I told the young lady up front that she did not do well with trims. Since I had never been in, I asked if I could go back and she said dogs do better without owners present. I wasn’t real comfortable so I walked back but stayed out of the room and out of sight of our dog. The young lady had no training in how to hold a difficult dog, struggled to hold her still and our girl got away from her and jumped from the table to the concrete floor. Luckily she was not injured because it was about three feet high. I told them I was done with the trim. The young lady had nothing to say, no apology or anything. Got up front and a male asked how it went – I told him. He did ask if she was injured but nothing further. They did not charge for the what they had gotten done. I realize some dogs are hard – staff needs to be properly trained so that neither the staff member nor the dogs get injured. Not a good experience and we wont be going back.
Mt. Pleasant Pet Resort is amazing! My dog Rocky has anxiety in public places, but the staff knows exactly how to make him feel safe and comfortable. They are patient, caring, and truly understand how to work with anxious dogs. I am so grateful to the staff for putting my worries at ease. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a caring and trustworthy daycare for their fur babies!
My 2 Furbabies love going here. They are always happy & tired from playing & grooming. Our Roland played with a skunk. They told me how to remove the smell & because we missed some, They helped get rid of it a few days later during his regular appointment. They are always friendly & love on our boys like they were their own.
I love Mount Pleasant Pet Resort. My chihuahua has anxiety around strangers and has had issues with other groomers before. He must love this place because he’s always excited to go and he’s SO relaxed on the car ride home. I know he is being very well taken care of when he’s there and they always do a great job! (For reference, I have a small, short-haired chihuahua. He goes for a bath and nail trimming about once a month.)
It’s hard to review places like this because you are not in the back when they are grooming your pet. But I would highly recommend doing your research before sending you pet there. We have a long haired pet And asked for one inch to be taken off and my dog has come back with all BUT ONE INCH left. His hair is uneven in multiple spots. I can see the clipper marks on his body. His head it looks like they tried to cut it and gave up. So he’s left with a spot that’s shorter then the rest. The people were very nice and very clean facility but I am not happy with my boys haircut.
