Bubbles Divide Trail in Mt Desert, Maine, offers a pet-friendly hiking experience with stunning views of Bubble Rock and Jordan Pond. This out-and-back trail is popular among local dog owners for its moderate challenge and natural vistas, especially during the fall foliage season. While primarily a hiking trail and not a traditional fenced dog park, it’s a terrific destination for active dogs and their owners.
Please note that the trail is not wheelchair accessible, and there aren’t amenities like water fountains, fenced dog areas, or agility equipment. Parking is limited and only available in designated spots—no parking is allowed along the road. The trail is also great for families with kids, and its natural beauty attracts visitors all year round. Always check local leash policies and trail signage for up-to-date information before your visit.
Bubble Rock is amazing. It’s just balanced on the edge of a ledge. We almost missed the beautiful view of Jordan Pond though. Be sure to look for the blue trail marking to the right of the sign for Bubble Rock at the summit. Walk straight forward from that blue mark and you will see a trail between the greenery there. Follow that trail to the view of Jordan Pond.
Limited parking, no parking along the road. Enjoyed the hike to north and south bubble. Was about 1.5 miles.
This was so cool! I highly recommend hiking up from the lake side. It was really steep and technical so climbing up is a lot easier and then looping around would have been a lot easier.
Great moderately challenging trail that has views of both Bubble Rocks and the Jordan pond. There are some sections that require scaling some rocks but it isn’t as bad as some other trails in the park and can also be avoided.
It was a short easy hike. Beautiful views!
Foliage colours were worth waiting for years and specifically planning a fall trip.
It was always possible to find a parking spot, but hotel availability nearby is limited any season and needs to be booked months ahead.
