If you are seeking a dog-friendly park near Mt Desert, Maine, look no further than Babson Creek Preserve. This scenic preserve offers pet-friendly trails and a short, easy 1/3 mile hiking loop, making it an ideal spot for dog owners and nature lovers alike. Dogs are allowed on the trails, so you and your canine companion can enjoy a peaceful walk surrounded by the beauty of meadows, forests, and views perfect for birdwatching.
While the trails are easy and suitable for laps, there are also opportunities for families to enjoy a day out, as the area is good for kids and offers kid-friendly hikes. Please note that while the preserve is welcoming to dogs on the trails, it is not wheelchair accessible and does not feature fenced, off-leash areas or dog-specific amenities. Visitors can also enjoy wildlife observation and check out the unique architecture of the Maine Coast Heritage Trust offices located onsite.
Small area, lots of mostiquitos, but perfect for bird watching!
An easy 1/3 mile loop with beautiful views and just enough elevation to keep you from getting bored if you’re doing laps
This is an intriguing preserve and the offices of the Maine Coast Heritage Trust. We walked there on a gorgeous late October morning and were greeted by turkeys coming up the slope. The meadows and forests provide lots of habitat for wildlife and there were bluebird/tree swallow nest boxes scattered over the area.
To us the most interesting thing to see was the architecture of the Trust office. A fabulous design , we wish we could have gone in there for a tour. Check it out!
