Located in beautiful Morton, Oakwood Dog Park provides local dog owners with a spacious, pet-friendly destination. This dog park in Morton, Illinois, features a large, wooded setting that is perfect for pups who love to run, play, and chase squirrels. With plenty of space to explore, lots of shade from mature trees, and picnic tables for owners to relax, it’s a favorite spot for both two- and four-legged visitors. The park is known for its cleanliness and friendly community, making it one of the most popular dog parks in Morton and nearby areas.
Oakwood Dog Park offers several amenities to enhance your visit, including water fountains for both people and dogs, public restrooms, and comfortable seating areas. Accessibility is a priority with wheelchair accessible entrances and parking. The park is also adjacent to a family-friendly playground and picnic area, making it a great spot for outings with kids. While many visitors enjoy the shaded, wooded scenery, some have noted that the park can get muddy or have less grass after periods of use. It’s recommended to bring your own water bowl for your dog and to watch out for occasional maintenance issues with the grounds.
My dogs love it here. So much room to run and beautiful wooded setting.
Very clean dog park, and everyone we have met has been awesome 🐾 Gannicus has a blast here 😀
Plenty of space. Most owners I have seen pick up after their pooch. Squirrels really make a game out of making the dogs chase them.
Good size, water for people and dogs, plenty of shade and a few tables as well. One of the best dog parks in the area
Update: My dog got some sort of bacterial infection or virus. She has had her bordatella and is up to date on all of her shots. She was having horrible diarrhea for a few days until the vet could see her and she had to be put on antibiotics. I suspect it’s from the water at the dog park or from another dog. Consider bringing your own water and bowl!
2nd update: She has been sick for about a month and a half now and has had 2 rounds of antibiotics and I have spent hundreds of dollars taking her to the vet. She is now refusing food
Only 1 dog has been unfriendly out of the dozens of dogs that we’ve met. His owner keeps taking him to the park weekly, even though he has attacked other dogs.
For the past 6 months, there is basically no grass. Dirt and sticks make up most of the park, which is horrible for running on. My baby loves to play, but has been limping and in pain from running on the hard ground. We will be taking a break from this park.
