Pretty nice trail head for all activities bike to hike. The parking is reasonably big and multiple spots to choose from. Not the best spot due to the amount of noise pollution.
Perfect for a quick workout. I feel quite comfortable doing this trail alone with my dog. It’s just a barren hill, but the views of both the city and the mountains from the top are worth it. If you have bad knees, consider a pole for the way down. It’s steep.
Been here only once, but always ride across the street. Lovely views, many different trails. All contain large elevation gains. Great place for hiking, running, or biking. Mostly a grinder to get up top. Trails don’t get cleared from snow and can be muddy and rutted. Parking lot always fills up quick, but a lot of spaces. Also there are some restrooms here which is convenient. I came here in December fyi and only some trails had snow. I’ll definitely come back.
I Park on the Rooney Road parking lot.
There is a cross road 🚲 motorcycle trail right in the beginning of the trail. And the noice of motorcycles is going to be all day long with you. Or better until you hike or Leave.
The hike is moderate uphill.
Some sharp stairway at one point, moderate difficulty. If it’s wet or raining this is going to be dangerous hike. It was a dry day luckily.
To get to the top approximately 45 min to an hour. Once you get to the top the trail has left and right. If you take the left side you are going to have moderate uphill hike for 15 minutes and after the trail is on the Clif of the mountains for about 40 minutes.
Beautiful view towards Red Rock’s amphitheatre. And nice view towards the city.
But from here you can enjoy the car traffic noice on the left side of the road that is pretty busy the highway. And then there is a traffic on the right side of the city. Just traffic and traffic and traffic. Some 🚲 are trying to do the trail for challenge because this is not a 🚲 trail, as it is very narrow isn’t at maximum safety.
I give it 3 star’s because the city noise doesn’t make you enjoy a second of peace. It’s just so noisy and busy, stressful I would say.
Beautiful hike next to 470. Great view of Lakewood and surrounds areas once at the top. I’ve heard this hike is prone to rattlesnakes in the warm summer months, so be advised.
The trail didn’t seem overly crowded. Parking is quite ample, and even if there are many cars there, it can be misleading as many people will park there, but may not necessarily be on the trail.
