Tioga Park – Bridge, Boat Ramp, and Parking in Monticello, Indiana

Tioga Park, located on Tioga Bridge Road in Monticello, Indiana, is less a traditional dog park and more of a recreational area centered around the historic Tioga Bridge and a public boat ramp. Visitors can expect scenic views of the bridge and access to the water, but amenities typically found in dedicated dog parks, such as fenced off-leash areas or dog-specific play equipment, are not present here based on available information.

The park features a boat ramp with parking for approximately 20 vehicles with trailers, making it a convenient access point for outdoor enthusiasts looking to launch boats. The area is mainly appreciated for its history and as a local spot to walk the bridge, but it may not be the most suitable destination for dog owners seeking a traditional dog park experience. Accessibility is limited—the entrance from the main road may be blocked at times, and parking can sometimes be a challenge, especially for those with mobility concerns.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Where is the best place to park? There is parking available for about 20 rigs near the public boat ramp. However, some visitors note the parking can be limited and occasionally hard to access.
  • Is the park wheelchair accessible? Accessibility may be a challenge for some visitors as the entrance can be blocked and the road is tight getting back to the ramp area.
  • Are there walking or hiking trails connected to the park? Tioga Park is primarily a bridge and boat ramp rather than a trailhead, so no dedicated dog-friendly hiking or walking trails are mentioned.

It totally sucks. I am disabled, and I’m looking for a good place to fish. And I can’t even get near the water, because they got the entrance coming off the main road blocked off

Tioga Park is also the public boat ramp with parking for 20 rigs. The road is a little tight getting back there but it’s never been a problem by going slow through there.

It is not a park at all. It is simply a bridge. It does not lead to anywhere interesting. I wouldn’t recommend if you’re not local.

Love the bridge, BUT nowhere to park on either side, why??**

William Smith

Decent bridge to walk across. Nothing special other than the history behind it.
