Located at 668 Haverstraw Rd, Kakiat Park offers an excellent opportunity for dog owners searching for a pet-friendly green space near Montebello, New York. While Kakiat Park is best known for its picturesque hiking and scenic views, it’s also a welcoming spot for leashed adventures with your four-legged friends. The park features wide open areas, easy trail access, and an environment loved by local dog owners for on-leash dog-friendly hiking and relaxing walks.
Kakiat Park stands out due to its connection to popular pet-friendly trails that wind through the beautiful landscape of Rockland County. The park does not appear to have a dedicated, fenced off-leash dog area, but visitors can still enjoy peaceful strolls with their pups on the park’s natural paths. This makes it ideal for those looking to explore nature with their dogs while enjoying the serenity of one of Montebello’s most scenic parks.
I really love coming here every time in the area. They have a really nice hike up the mountain with a beautiful overlook it’s a little rocky and challenging but very doable even with my 3 yr old son

This is another Kakiat Trailhead. There are many good hiking trails in Harriman State Park, but this one is short but intense and a great one to look forward to even on rainy days. It is about 2.5 miles, elevation 674 ft, and takes about an hour and 10 minutes.
It is a good course for dog walking, as you can usually see many dogs, so I recommend it to those who hike with dogs.

It was such a fun place to walk! One of the trails is not as clearly marked as we were expecting, especially compared to the rest, but there’s lots of open space, lots of birds, beautiful ways to enjoy nature here, and a reasonable amount of parking.
