With accessible parking and family amenities, it’s an inviting spot for dog lovers looking to enjoy some quality time outdoors with their furry friends in Monroe City.
We’ve been here twice. The first time we didn’t catch any fish and the rocks are a little hard to navigate. We eventually found a grassier spot last time, but when we tried to go back there to fish this weekend, the water was up too high. This weekend’s fishing trip was much more successful fish wise though. We caught 12ish white bass, 2 drum, 2 crappie, and that was at the worst part of the day. There’s not a lot of shade at this spot, so sunscreen is a smart move. I definitely regret not reapplying throughout the day. 😅
This is usually a great place to go and shoot at the range. But, some people have trashed it. where you hang your target with shot guns have blown big holes in the rubber. You can’t even hang your target up. Also, they leave their trash laying around. This is on the 25-yard range, Pretty sure it’s for handguns and a little rifle sighting in. Was there again a couple weeks after still looks the same, and the same thing is happening on the 50-yard range. Very disappointing, used to be a nice place to go and shoot. Not so much anymore.
Not much in the park, but some great views of the Dam
A wonderful engineering achievement, well maintained areas on both side of the river below the dam… Very nice to visit…
Our family has been going up to Mark Twain Lake now for 15 years and we love this quaint lake right outside of Monroe City. There is only one house on the lake and it does not have a touristy vibe like Lake of the Ozarks or Table Rock.
