one of my favorite places to hike in the south bay! during the winter months the hills are especially green. we were able to watch a hanglider make its way down.

Ed R. Levin County Park is a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the Bay Area. Whether you’re looking to unwind by strolling along the peaceful pond, trying your hand at fishing, or enjoying a quiet hike, this park has something for everyone. It’s also an ideal spot for a picnic with family or friends.

One of the things I love most about the park is how relaxing it feels—perfect for birdwatching or even getting some quiet work done outdoors. The abundance of birds and the calm atmosphere make it a great retreat. Just a heads-up: parking is paid, but it’s well worth the experience.

If you’re looking for a place to recharge and connect with nature, Ed R. Levin County Park is highly recommended!

Ed R. Levin Park, nestled in the stunning Calaveras mountains, has the nickname “Little Switzerland.” This park presents a landscape reminiscent of the Swiss countryside, featuring rolling hills, lush meadows, and grazing cattle. During spring, the verdant hills are dotted with colorful wildflowers, such as California poppies, lovely lupine, and bright yellow wild mustard, which enhance the beauty of the landscape.

Different levels of hike are here. From the shortest next to the lake to 8+ miles to the summit of Monument Peak, ascended more than 2,000 feet in elevation, or, for a greater challenge, there’s also a 13-mile hike to Mission Peak starting from Ed Levin Park with a 3,172-foot elevation gain.

There is a NULL entrance fee. This park is also covered by the Santa Clara County Parks Annual Vehicle Entry Pass, which is NULL at the regular price, but it’s reduced to NULL for eligible individuals and families who participate in certain social programs like Medi-Cal, CalFresh, SSI, or CalWORKs or use services at the Department of Family and Children’s Services San Jose or Gilroy Family Centers.

Whether you are looking for a family getaway or hiking or bird watching, this is the place to go. Right now is the best time to visit as wild flowers are blooming all over the valley. I went there for a short hike this weekend and it was hard to put my camera down. There are multiple trails surrounding the park to choose from based on the amount of time and energy you want to spend hiking. If you hike up the agua cliente trail, there are beautiful views of the silicon valley, just be careful of cattle. And after the hike, eat and relax at the lakeshore.

It was a good place to
Visit! We did a short walk. Please put in mind to pay the parking even there’s no people around but there’s a camera who can monitor you. It’s just NULL so it won’t break your bank 😁 Let’s abide by the law and we will have a good life ahead.

I want to give a thumbs up who maintain the toilet cleaned. That’s 10/10 stars. The best toilet I ever been. Some other parks are filthy! I’m just being honest here.
