There is only one word that describes this outfit and that is outstanding. They really do know there stuff and go above and beyond to make sure your experience is one never to forget. They go out of there way to make the hunt a time of your life and will not stop or give up on the hunt no matter what. My hunt with them was one never to forget Robby went out of his way to keep me in the loop letting me know what bears were coming in sending me pictures and when the time came opening day I met with him went over a game plan and headed to the woods the stand was in a area you could just feel there was bear around the bait was hit and the nerves already started in. He got me into the tree and made sure I was all set before leaving. Not more then a hour or 2 of sitting in the stand out of no where my 300lb bear appeared out of the swamp and it was on. I took my shot and right after got ahold of Robby and he was there faster then you would ever think with a crew ready to do there job. Didn’t take long and we found my bear. The crew was quick to take a bunch of picture and start getting the bear out with everyone working together it made the job easy and one to remember I’ll never go to anyone else when it comes to a guide service. He also help my 86 year old grandfather that douse not walk well get into the woods and put a big bear in front of him. My uncle hunted the same stand on shot my bear from and ended up tagging his bear that night out of the same stand. The dog outfitter is truly a top notch outfit and in my eyes the best in Michigan and I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
My wife drew an Elk tag and we had a blast! I’m a lifelong hunter and this was my favorite hunting experience…and I wasn’t even the hunter!! Robbie kept us well informed leading up to the hunt, and my wife was successful opening morning!! Robbie had everything taken care of & thought out. Not only was it a hunt of a lifetime, but we made friends for a lifetime!!
After my Dad drew a Michigan Bear permit, the worry began on how to get him in to the thick Bear woods, (as he has a hard time walking) I contacted the Michigan DNR for any help or information as to a Bear Guid who might help. The MDNR had help for us, they put me into contact with Tom Jones from Michigan Freedom Outdoors.I told Tom the issue we had, and could he help or give advice on a plan. Right there he said you will be fine, I have the just right guide for you and a Track Chair for your Father to use. I was waiting for the “But you need to do this for me” but that never came.
Tom Jones gave me the number to Robbie McLennan, (The Dog Outfitters) and said call him he will set up your hunt up, and he will have one of my Tracked Chairs waiting for “Dad” to use in his hunt. I called this DogOutfitters, as my family and I are very seasoned Hunters and was wondering how long this ” too good to be true “situation” will last. I called Robbie, and got a nice respectful person on the line, Robbie stated that Tom Jones has advised him of the situation with Dad, and that we were all set, and the Tracked Chair will be there for as long as Dad needed it for his Bear Hunt.
We arrived in Millersburg.MI at Robbie’s house the day before the hunt. He went over the Track Chair operation with Dad, my Sister Dawn, niece Autumn, and Nephew Jake Adlen, ( see Jake’s review) Dad’s filming Crew, and showed us where all the Baits were. Next day Hunt was on, Dad had a big bear come in close to dark, but in the thick swamp could not get a good sight on it. We hunted the rest of the week, but the heat wave that came in kept the bear from moving until late at night. Although Dad didn’t get his bear, we had a great time, and made a New Friend(s) in Millersberg.

I was able to hunt with Robbie and his team for December 2024 season seen elk every day and was able to tag a beautiful 6 X 7 bull on Friday morning great hunt and even better people
The best decision my dad made when he drew a 2023 Michigan bull elk tag was contacting Robbie and The Dog Outfitters. His knowledge of the animals as well as the area proved invaluable. We definitely put in the miles but Robbie and his entire crew went above and beyond to make this hunt a success with my dad harvesting an awesome 6×6 Michigan bull elk in the afternoon of the second day, after Robbie tracked it 6.2 miles. Robbie and everyone else from The Dog Outfitters helped create an incredible experience and memories that will last a lifetime.
