Dr. Maurice Hilleman Park is a community park located at 85 Water Plant Rd in Miles City, Montana. Known for its clean upkeep and stone/cement picnic tables, the park offers a relaxing setting for pet owners looking for a space to walk or exercise with their dogs. While the park has a rather modest setup and is sometimes described as run-down, its open spaces are functional for local activities and dog-friendly outings.
This park is named after Dr. Maurice Hilleman, a pioneering figure in vaccine development, though there are no dedicated plaques or features celebrating his work. Visitors appreciate its cleanliness and the respect locals show to the shared space. While amenities are basic and there are not many specialized dog park features, it remains a popular local spot for casual play and enjoying the outdoors with your four-legged companion.
Cool place.Day use only.Should allow camping.
Excellent local sports park with plenty to all year long. Respect the Locals and their culture and the place they call home.
It is a park – has stone/cement tables that are nice, & it’s kept clean, but that’s about it. The pictures are a bit deceiving.
The park itself is 3/5 (not much there, feels kinda run-down). But the namesake of the park was a 8/5. Seriously, look him up.
Maurice Hilleman is the godfather of vaccines. He created 8 of the 14 routinely recommended vaccines, and assisted with over 30 others. It boggles my mind that the city doesn’t even bother to put up a plaque in his honor, but oh well!
