Nestled in Middletown Township, Tatum Park and its Holland Activity Center offer a welcoming, pet-friendly atmosphere for dog owners and families seeking scenic outdoor fun. With wheelchair-accessible paths, several easy-to-moderate hiking trails, and abundant open space, this park is ideal for leisurely dog walks and casual hikes. The park features multiple trails, including Indian Springs, Holly, and Dogwood, making it a top choice for dog-friendly hiking in Monmouth County.
Tatum Park provides key amenities such as onsite parking, picnic tables, and public restrooms. The grounds are known for their seasonal wildflowers, beginner-friendly trails, and easy parking access—the perfect setting for pet owners looking to explore nature with their four-legged companions. The Holland Activity Center itself, a historic former summer home, serves as an excellent launch point for your adventure, offering both accessibility and beautiful scenery.
The Indian Springs, Holly trail and Dogwood trails are really nice. They get you deep in the woods. Please don’t forget to go to the back of Deep Cut park which is right across the street. The garden, bonsai, coy pond, vegetable garden knomb hunt are all wonderful.
Can’t say enough nice about the facility and the park rangers. We had a baby shower there for our daughter in-law and son for 70 guests. It was great. The rangers were helpful throughout the process from start to finish.
It’s definitely more of a walk than a hike. Not much elevation or pretty scenery. Perhaps in the springtime with flowers it would be much more eye appealing. But it does start at a location with a beautiful facility.
Lovely place for a walk! Dozens of different trails to choose from. Easy to walk and beginner friendly! In spring and summer you’ll see lots of tulip trees, milk thistle and red clovers.
Holland Activity Center is former summer home of Charles Tatum family. Parking area is a good access point to many trails of the park, there are a few picnic benches and nice restrooms in the center. Hiking is relatively easy even in hilly Tatum Ramble area since elevations are easy to handle.
