Could not be happier with this park! The trails are amazing and the plant life is poppin’! So many gorgeous ephemerals in the spring and flowers and foliage every other season. I come as often as I can

A park as massive as the town is small.
I’m not kidding when I say this park is massive for the size of the town its located in. When I set my destination to this place, my girlfriend (who is from the area) said it was a hangout spot for her as a kid. She failed to mention how massive the place was.
We got there and parked and I had to ask, “Is this really it?! This park is huge!”. She confirmed that my eyes weren’t playing trick on me. This park really is spread out with lots of open fields and areas to hike.
Time was important since the sun was setting, so we didn’t get to spend the afternoon seeing what the park had to offer. We did get to walk around a little bit, play on some of the playground equipment, and check out Lee Cabin. The cabin was a cool little gem hidden in a park that is a gem itself.
There isn’t much else to say. Its a park that you can seemingly do a lot at. Walk, hike, play on the equipment, picnic… and who knows what else since I only saw parts of it.
If you are in the area and have an itch to explore something between a small city park and a state/national park, Black Partridge Park is perfect for that.
My hiking group chose this place for our weekend hike. It was surprised to find such a beautiful wooded area right next to soccer fields. We did the whole 3.6 miles loop in 2 hours. This is also a bike path so we run into a few people riding bikes but they weren’t going too fast. Dogs on a leash are allowed. The restrooms were clean. There were lots of people in the area
Overall great experience! The Metamora Park District Office and supporting team has been so kind. I have spoken with Katie, and she is so easy to work with. She has been quick to respond and I found it so nice to be able to reserve for our sons dedication event coming up. My son loves playing at the park here. Metamora is safe, friendly, the park is so big and spacious and there is seating enough for everyone! Facilities are there and available for use. Years ago, I we had a photo shoot down one of the trails. Ran with the girls soccer team of Metamora High School one summer. Great Park!
It’s a good place for hiking and walking the dogs. It has a playground for the kids and picnic areas. Many fields for kids’ sports activities like baseball, softball, and so on. And an area where you can let the dogs free to run. And if you find yourself in need, you can count on restrooms around the park.
