🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions

Discover 104th Pl Park, a hidden gem nestled in Mesa, AZ, offering wide-open grassy areas perfect for letting your dog stretch their legs and roam. Renowned as a dog-friendly park, it welcomes local dog owners searching for an open space rather than a traditional fenced-in dog park. The park features ample room for walking and exercise, with a paved sidewalk looping around the greenbelt—ideal for pet-friendly strolls or jogs with your pup. While it is not an official off-leash dog park, many visitors appreciate the freedom it provides in a safe community setting, as long as your dog has reliable recall due to the lack of fencing.
Although there are no specific dog park amenities like separate areas for small or large dogs, agility features, or dedicated water stations, the park is well-maintained and kept clean. Dog waste stations are provided, though it’s a good idea to bring your own bags as dispensers may be empty. There’s plenty of space for both energetic dogs and families to enjoy a picnic or light outdoor activities. However, note that the park lacks shade, drinking fountains, and restrooms, so plan accordingly for Mesa’s hot weather. Street parking is available, though some visitors report needing to find spots in nearby apartment lots. It’s open year-round, making it a consistent spot for dog lovers in the Mesa community.
Found used hypodermic needles in the sand close to where my kids were playing. Its obvious junkies use this place at night, so be weary.
Some tweekers are annoying but other than that ok place. Would not recommend kids past dark
Nice playground. The kids enjoyed themselves. It would also be a nice place for a picnic. But it really needs a trash can.
Nice community Park. They have updated the play area. Also has Pokemon Go stop and always good Pokemon’.
No restroom. Smallest play area I’ve ever seen. Huge land area over rock border and down a hill that was DRY grass…but grateful for area for the kids to play Lacrosse…. doggies to run…
