This park is well-regarded by locals for bringing a touch of beauty to the urban environment, featuring a lovely gazebo, benches throughout, and the Melvindale Veterans Memorial. An added charm is the lending library, inviting the community to take or share a book against a backdrop of greenery decorated with cardinals and vines.
While Cardinal Park is not a traditional dog park with fenced runs or off-leash areas, dogs are welcome if leashed, making it a pet-friendly spot for strolls and relaxation. The park is clean and well-maintained, offering shade and several seating options ideal for a quick break or resting with your pet. Seasonal highlights include the Melvindale Farmers’ Market and a picnic area, making this small park a community hub for both owners and their four-legged companions in Melvindale.

Cardinal Park is a beautiful, small park located at an intersection. It is a relief to see the park there and the gazebo along with it. The area it is in benefits from it as it a welcome draught of beauty and well designed space in an urban environment.
The gazebo is very nice and appreciated as a place to sit during inclement weather and to enjoy in the summertime. The benches scattered through the park invite rest no matter which direction you are traversing the park.
There is no play area here and it is on a busy intersection so this is not a play park.
The Melvindale Veterans Memorial is also located here.
During the summertime and into the fall Melvindale hosts their Farmers’ Market here. It is in a good location as it is between a commercial area with stores and restaurants and a very set of neighborhoods.
The park is also graced with a lending library where people can take a book and leave a book. The lending library box is tastefully decorated with cardinals and trailing vines.
