I’m posting this April 12th 2015.

They have significantly lowered the annual fees via sponsors. They’re now:
Resident of McHenry: NULL.00
Non-Resident: NULL.00
Extra Pass: NULL.00
Additional Dog: NULL.00

The reasons I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 are:

1. Its not very big (3-4 acres I believe) but suffices as its usually still not that crowded.

2. Although there is a water fountain for the dogs, it is located outside the fenced park area. I wonder if this was a restriction due to existing infrastructure, or perhaps its a safety measure so less dogs congregate around it avoiding confrontation.

3. Although there is a small pavilion with a picnic table under it, it is right in front of the entrance. Bad placement in my opinion because people and dogs tend to gather there, which makes for an even more excitable greeting of the new dogs coming into the park by the other dogs already there.

Nonetheless, I have met many people and read peoples comments who are quite pleased that there is now a pass-protected dog park so close to them in this general area to let their dogs run around. Go there during the week and you’ll probably have but one or two other people/dogs visiting with you, if that.

Great dog park.Usually clean. Small pen for small dogs and abt 800 ft for the bigger dogs. Although many people mix. Not a problem I see. All the dogs get along pretty well. Park provides poop bags and fresh water. Sign up at McHenry Rec by Municipal Building. They will provide key pass there is a fee NULL for me but I think I was pro-rated. Ha v e gone every day since signing up a week ago. My greyhound Adele just loves it❤❤❤❤

When you search free dog park near me this one will pop up. It is NOT free. Locked gate , members only. Using Sniffspot is cheaper then the yearly NULL fee here so Imma pass .

Clean and very well maintained. Rusty loves this park, he has made many 2 and 4 legged friends here in the last 2 years. The annual fee is a is like 25.00 for McHenry residents and 35.00 for non-residents.
