🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Alexander Park, located at 300 Atlanta St, McDonough, GA 30253, offers dog owners a spacious and mostly shaded dog park tucked back in the woods. Visitors note that this is one of the largest small dog areas they’ve seen, nearly equal in size to the large dog section, providing ample room for pets to run and play off-leash. The shaded setting under pine trees makes it a comfortable choice during warmer months, and the park’s quiet atmosphere is ideal for both energetic pups and owners seeking a peaceful outing.
The park also features pet-friendly trails, a disc golf course, several playgrounds, and a charming creek area. The walking paths throughout the park are mostly gravel with worn pavement in some areas, so sturdy shoes are advised. While water facilities may not always be operational, and general maintenance of both trails and parking areas could be improved, Alexander Park remains a popular spot for locals looking for a dog-friendly hiking experience or to socialize their pups in a natural environment.
Walking paths are in bad shape. They have been neglected for years. Wear hiking shoes not gym shoes. Also the parking is sketchy, you need to drive right between to baseball fields to get out. On the one way drive, not safe for kids.

Lovely yet neglected park. we almost missed the dog park because it is back in the woods. Water facilities were still turned off today on 4/10, found syringes in the parking lot.
Dog park is large and almost completely shaded by pine trees. Probably the largest small dog park I’ve seen, almost the same size as the large size
No other dogs present this am at 1030.. someone had left a water bowl, which we were thankful for

The path here is a short loop and playground is cute but access is tough and the pavement needs to be redone. There is a large dog park. It was hard to navigate the path with a stroller as it was mostly gravel and washed away partially.

I love coming here to walk. For those who enjoy walking on a concrete path or riding bicycles, Alexander Park West has a nice walkway going a mile down into the woods. Going downhill is the easy part! 😇
This park also has a Disc Golf course with a path cut into the woods. Signs do warn about flying discs but I haven’t had to dodge one, yet. 🤠
