🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Maynard Dog Park is a popular dog park in Maynard, Massachusetts, offering a friendly space for local dogs and their owners to play and socialize. Located at 128 Waltham St, this park features a fully fenced area where dogs are welcome to romp off-leash. Its shaded spaces, provided by mature trees, create a comfortable environment on sunny days, and a fresh layer of mulch helps keep things neat. The park is well-regarded by locals for its clean grounds and respectful community.
While the park is best suited for small to medium dogs due to its moderate size, it remains a convenient destination—especially for those without private yards. Waste bags and trash bins are provided for easy cleanup, though visitors should note there are no water stations. The park does not currently have a separate area for small or large dogs; instead, it offers defined small dog hours. Please be mindful after winter weather, as snow and ice can sometimes block the entrance. Overall, Maynard Dog Park is a valuable pet-friendly space for dog owners in the region.
I can’t in good faith leave a bad review because this does look like a nice park and there are so few of these types of amenities around.
So I’ll just leave a note for those visiting in the winter months. We arrived today, the park was empty despite many vehicle tracks and footprints in the snow. When we got to the entrance gate we noticed that both gates were sitting in several inches of ice and no amount of pushing or pulling was getting them open. The park was effectively closed.
It’s clear that the entrance area is a low spot where the water collects and doesn’t drain when it rains. When the puddles freeze with the gates sitting in them there is nothing to be done. Either the bottom of the gates need to be raised, the ground needs to be graded, or some drainage needs to be added to prevent this from happening in the future.
My dog and I had a great time socializing here! It’s a close spot to let his energy out. Especially helpful because I do not have a fenced in yard. The community does a good job keeping it clean and being respectful.
Great dog park and grateful for it being here. People are friendly. There is a lot of empty land next to it ..wish they made it bigger but it’s decent as sig parks go.
It’s ok, plenty of shade which is wonderful and there is a decent amount of space although it’s still on the smaller end so probably more suitable for small or medium size dogs. Where I have an issue is that there are old dog toys strewn across the place which leaves me wary because you can’t be certain that every dog you encounter is ok with sharing toys.
Decent park. Good size just under an acre. Was recently given a fresh layer of mulch. Nicely shaded by trees for a good chunk of the location.
Bags and trash present, but no water. Single section of park, they have defined “small dog hours”, but no separate section.
This was one of the original parks to open outside of Boston – but the design is showing it’s age and it needs some updates like a small dog only section and some sort of water.
