What a great park! I can’t believe we’ve lived in Mason for an entire year before discovering this place.

We came to do some fishing and found the ponds to be clean, easy to access, and great to fish.

The playground is also a lot of fun, with plenty of nearby seating and areas for families to relax and enjoy watching geese, birds, and other critters.

Grab an ice cream afterward just a couple blocks away.

Laylin is usually a quiet park at least when we go. We love the ponds and the walk around the park. The geese are a special treat to watch. The equipment is always in good condition.

They have updated the fishing pond platforms and bridges for walks and enjoying close looks into the ponds. I love this park. The play area has gotten better and bigger. Three slides and structure for bigger kids and a smaller 2 slide structure for toddlers. Before I moved to the area and away from it after so many years, it has only been increasing in beauty and usefulness. There are a number of trees for shade and a play area has been updated over the years. I’ve moved away and recently visited and they have updated the footpath and bridge near the parking lot for a safer walk around the park, ponds, grassy sitting areas, play yard and swings. They have installed a handicap swing for larger children and adults unable to enjoy the smaller, less stable swings and this is so much more of a positive direction for encompassing all ages and abilities. The feel is far more inclusive of all people and especially all ages and physical abilities. The paths are paved and handicapped accessible, wheel chair friendly even with the asphalt and wooden bridges. The pavilion is covered and at one point had areas for eating at picnic tables. I didn’t notice this last visit, but I think everything was done. When I moved away few years ago, the area was under construction and I took my young children to another park in Mason. This park is great for looking at nature, bird watching, have plenty of geese that use it for breeding area and they allow catch and release fishing. I’ve seen a few snapping turtles years ago from the comfort of the viewing platforms around the ponds that extended into and over the ponds. Small fish have taken food from my kids as they tossed into shallow water… or ducks enjoyed the snacks my children tossed them. I have enjoyed the park for years and it looks great since my recent visit late October 2021.

I am biased because I grew up going to this park. I absolutely love it. It’s nice to be by the water, there’s a pavilion and the playground is perfect to stop by and hang out for a bit with the kids.

There’s something quietly enchanting about our visits to Laylin Park—a place the kids return to again and again with wide-eyed enthusiasm. With every trip, the park feels like a little world unto itself: lush, inviting, and full of quiet corners that beg to be explored. The water features, though purely for admiring and not for splashing in, add a serene, almost storybook beauty to the landscape, reflecting sunlight in a way that makes everything feel just a bit more magical. I always offer the children a choice of parks, a full lineup of possibilities, but they invariably choose Laylin—as though it’s stitched into the fabric of their joy.
