K9 Acres Off-Leash Area is a popular dog park in Marion, Iowa, located at 5200 Golf Course Rd. This well-maintained, accessible park is a local favorite for pet-friendly trails and wide open spaces where dogs can run and play off-leash. The park offers paved walking paths that are not only great for dog-friendly hiking but also make the area more usable year-round, even after rain or snow.
Dog owners appreciate the multiple sections, including a small dog area (for pups under 12 inches), a designated training/agility area, and a large open walking trail area ideal for friendly gatherings and exercise. Amenities such as water stations for dogs, public restrooms, wheelchair-accessible paths and parking, and friendly community vibes round out the experience. While most visitors find the park clean and welcoming, it is important for owners to monitor their dogs as some users have noted variable diligence regarding control and clean-up.
Very well kept. Nice paved walking path, water stations for the dogs throughout the path. All the dogs and dog owners are friendly. Our new rescue has enjoyed every visit. It’s a nice community.
Place is well maintained and the people there are very nice. I’ve never had a problem bringing my dogs there. Also, the city just replaced some of the trails with cement, so it’s not as messy to walk on after it snows or rains.
I love this place. Friendly people and dogs. Wide open, clear area so your pups can wander off and play but you can still see them. They even provide water for your pups. Great place. I wish it was more popular.
Decent park, but I’ve found quite a few owners with dogs that are not under control. I feel it is a little more dangerous than other dog parks I’ve been to where owners are very careful. People aren’t as diligent about picking up after their dog.
I have mixed feelings. There are 3 areas. One is a ‘training’ area for like dog running courses. It’s pretty large with the training space taking only a small area. Apparently you only have 20 min in there. There is no ‘big dog’ ‘small dog’ area, except for a small dog area where your dog can only be 12 inches. My dogs are frenchies..bigger than 12 inches but I didn’t want them to be in with big dogs. I had to go to the large walking trail area where there were a ton of dogs. There was a big black lab who kept pawing at and jumping on one of my dogs and literally followed us everywhere doing this. Not an owner in site or they didn’t care. So I left.
