DeHart Park is a welcoming neighborhood park located in Maplewood, New Jersey. While not a dedicated dog park, it’s praised by locals for being clean, animal-friendly, and offering plenty of space for walking and jogging with your dog on pet-friendly trails. The park features a quarter-mile walking path ideal for dog-friendly exercise, as well as ample green space, making it a pleasant outing for you and your canine companion.
Visitors enjoy the variety of amenities, including a soccer field, playground for kids, tennis and basketball courts, and outdoor exercise equipment. There’s plenty of shade around the park, and it’s a popular spot for locals to relax while watching soccer games or exploring the trails with their pets. While there isn’t a dedicated off-leash or fenced dog area, the park’s friendly atmosphere and accessibility make it a great option for leisurely strolls with your pup if you’re in the Maplewood, NJ area.
I have been coming to this park for over 2 years with my five year old and infant. We love this small park because it has about a quarter mile walking path around the playground and soccer field. This park even has an outdoor gym area with equipment that uses plyometrics. The playground is always pretty clean and they even moved that huge tree that was in the center recently. The bathrooms in the center could be a little more updated but I have seen way worse bathrooms.
Park is great, its clean and animal friendly. It has everything but a pool. And they’ve even added a full size basketball court.
Nice public space good walking slow jogging track picnic benches and a number of seats around for sitting. bathrooms available and lots of soccer to watch in season. The Birds descend upon the park in the cold season.
DeHart Park has a large shaded patio area. There are no benches or seating area in any shaded part of either the patio or the (front) grounds. Why is that?
I was driving by, I’m a local resident, and I suddenly needed to sit down. Plenty of shade, but no benches with seating in any shaded place. Very poor planning.
This is a great little neighborhood park! I’m not sure if it’s a place I would go out of my way to get to, but for me and everyone in my neighborhood it’s a really nice place. There is a tennis court, basketball court, a nice size playground, some stationary exercise equipment, a very large soccer field, and a walking path that goes around the soccer field. I see all kinds of people walking or jogging – young, old, in shape, getting in shape, etc. there are also a couple of picnic tables, but no grills.
If this is the closest park to you and you’re wondering if you should go, I highly recommend it!
