Mixed Bag – Beautiful Trail, But Safety Concerns

I recently visited Dave King Park and had a mixed experience. The ball park section is decent, with four fields that are well-maintained. However, the wooden deck style walking trail around the backside of the park is a major safety concern. The trail lacks a railing on one side, leaving a 4-foot drop that could lead to injuries or worse. Additionally, there are protruding nails along the trail that pose a tripping hazard for kids, runners, and even wildlife.

On the bright side, once you navigate the hazardous section, the trail continues into a beautiful shaded area and connects to Fred Deadman Park. The scenery and atmosphere improve significantly, making it a lovely spot for a walk or jog.

Overall, I would caution visitors to exercise extreme care when using the walking trail, and hope that the park management addresses these safety issues soon.

Rating: 3/5 stars

Recommendation: Add railings and repair protruding nails on the walking trail to make the park a safer and more enjoyable experience for all.

Was watching a few of my granddaughters play softball they are 3 different teams and 3 different age groups. But they have a concession stand with your ballpark foods and drinks and candy’s. There is even a playground with swings, slide, and climbing section and other things and there is a walking trail along with a couple gazebos with picnic benches at them and bathrooms and 4 different fields.

The playground was a little old and rusty, but other than that it was good. The bathrooms were easily accessible and clean which is a plus.

Watched a softball game. The grounds are beautiful. Snack bar, restrooms, dog friendly, ball diamonds, nice sidewalks, plenty of room…

As a softball player there; it is clean and very welcoming. They have food and drinks prepared and very nice people at the counter at the games. Although the hand towels were never filled while there, the bathrooms were also always cleaned.
