If you’re looking for a scenic dog park in Manchester, New Hampshire, Walk in the Woods at Stark Park is the perfect destination for pet owners and nature lovers alike. This wooded park features winding, pet-friendly trails ideal for dog-friendly hiking, allowing you and your pup to enjoy tranquil strolls surrounded by beautiful artwork made from trees, shaded pathways, and occasional views of the Merrimack River. The well-marked paths, benches, and kid-friendly activities like climbing logs make this park a top pick for families with children and dogs.
Stark Park is known for its relaxing atmosphere, maintained walking trails, and unique features such as community gardens (in summertime) and a heritage trail connection. The park provides areas to sit, enjoy the scenery and the sounds of nature, and watch your dog explore in a welcoming, safe environment. While not fully fenced as a traditional dog park, it is a popular place for walking dogs and even has a cool swim spot for adventurous pups. Adjacent moderate parking, accessible porta potties, and plenty of natural shade make your visit convenient and comfortable.
On this day we were filming a wedding and decided to do the first look along with some family photos at Stark Park. It was picturesque and nice to see the process of foliage with falling leaves making the images that much more worthwhile. Overall it was a great Park to visit with semi-clean porta potties. Also, folks need to remember to pick up after their dogs.
This was actually one of my favorite trails. It was easy to get around without getting lost. Also having beautiful art work made from the trees made great for learning with the little ones my 5 yr old son loved being able to enjoy climbing and balancing on some of the cool activities kids can experience on this peaceful walk. We all enjoyed this tail. They have benches and signs to keep you informed and to just relaxing and enjoying the scenery. Overall I would recommend this trail and I will be going back with my family.
Probably the most popular part of Stark Park. The trail takes you over small bridges, along the wetlands, 🎵 through the woods 🪓 to grandmother’s house 🏡 we go🎵! Oops 😬, sorry 😐!
Anywho, there are ➰ loop paths and connections to other paths. Stroller friendly but you are going to have to push a wheelchair.
There is a warning ⚠️ about mosquitoes 🦟 transmitting disease. So bring bug 🪲 repellent.
Just as with the park, the woods area is really nice to visit. Plenty of shady trails to walk. Some flat, some with hills and some with small bridges
Listening to the song birds in the AM makes the nice trails even more intriguing.
Places to sit and enjoy the view and sounds of nature, as well as some views of the river
It is a well kept area for the most part, though you may come across an encampment here or there. Thus far no trouble with that.
This is a lovely little nature walk put in by Manchester Moves in 2021. They’re going to be working on it more over the next few years, but even as a start, it’s really lovely.
The small winding trails meander through peaceful woods while the sunlight glitters through the trees onto the ground below. The trail is well marked with signs, and there is a fun “Heritage Troll” character photo spot for kids. One of the trails connects to the Heritage Trail as well, so you’ve got lots of places to walk. And if you’re walking in the summertime, you may stumble across a beautiful community garden!
Stark Park has gone up in the ranks in my book with the addition of these walking trails, and I hope you’ll check them out soon, too!
