Carr Park is a welcoming green space located in the heart of Manchester, Michigan, known for its beautiful old trees, expansive lawns, and family-friendly amenities. This park is a favorite for locals, offering wheelchair accessible entrances, paved paths, shaded picnic pavilions, and abundant playground equipment including a historic slide, swings, and a barn-themed play area. With plenty of open space and paved trails that wind through nearby subdivisions, this spot is an ideal choice for anyone seeking dog-friendly hiking or a relaxing afternoon out with their pets.
For dog owners, Carr Park stands out among dog parks in Manchester for its pet-friendly policies. Dogs are allowed in the park (on-leash), and the paved trails are perfect for dog walks. While there is no dedicated fenced dog area, the open layout and well-maintained grounds make it easy for you and your pup to enjoy the outdoors. Whether you’re packing a lunch, celebrating a birthday, or simply looking for a tranquil spot under the shade of century-old oaks and pines, Carr Park is a hidden gem in Washtenaw County.
Always a relaxing place to go. Saw the eclipse here and it gave a good view.
Always a nice place to sit and do whatever. Swings, slides, merry-go-round…Pavillion for picnicing….great park. Very Nostalgic for me,as I have frequented this place for decades……lots of great memories. Yeah….
Hidden gem. I would highly recommend this park to families with kids. Some people walk their dogs here too, as there are some paved trails you could take through the subdivision at the back of the park. Trees are amazing here, pears, really old oaks and pines. Pavilions are mostly clean, no graffiti. Some poison ivy lurks in really tall grass, but most of the park is short lawn and has no ivy on trees. Has 2 volleyball courts, which are great for sand play, as I have not seen them actively being used for volleyball. Play structures are great too and the swings are all in good condition, nothing broken or damaged. The metal slide does get hot in the sun. Have a handicap accessible swing also, which is awesome!
My childhood park in my hometown of Manchester Michigan the death slide was still there ,itis over a hundred years old now was terrifying at the top as a little kid,yes
I went down the slide
Still a little scary! 💓
Kids absolutely love this park. The barn themed playground really sparks there imagination. There is so much room to run around. Come here every year for the fireworks too, which in my opinion are probably the best around.
If you haven’t yet, pack a lunch, bring the pups, and enjoy this park, you won’t regret it.
