This was one of the great experiences of my hunting life. Sure, the duck, perdiz, and dove hunting was terrific. But what set this experience apart was the efficiency, helpfulness, and, above all kindness of our hosts. The lodge is like a home, simple, clean, and comfortable. Food is some of the best I have ever experienced. I just melted into the atmosphere for a wonderful five days. Would love to return!
I have had the pleasure of hunting with Closaway Outfitters twice. Once in 2019 and again in 2023. The experience is unforgettable. Closaway hits the mark on all requisites for an international hunting trip. Great staff, impeccable hunts, and an extensive dive into the local cuisine utilizing the harvested game. Other highlights include stargazing, wine (over)consumption, and fellowship with your party. Would absolutely recommend the trip, and if you’re fortunate, someone from your party will harvest a wascally wabbit during a Perdiz hunt!
Amazing experience! Best wing shooting trip you could imagine. Dove hunting was as good (or better) than Argentina, and you also get to hunt duck and perdiz. Dwight’s team is first class! I can’t say enough great things about the staff. Lastly, the food was incredible! Better culinary experience than anything you will get in the states. Highly recommend, five stars!
It’s hard to imagine a more friendly, welcoming, and competent staff at every level at the Closaway lodge in Uruguay. We ate some of our birds as appetizers at every dinner and all the meals were gourmet. We had excellent dove, pigeon, duck and Perdiz shooting. My favorite experience was closely following Rufo (Brittany) in 1.5’ grass as he creeped in on what I thought was a Perdiz. We were both stunned when a 3’ tall Rhea jumped up and took off like a racehorse. What a fine adventure in great weather. Many Thanks Dwight, Martin & crew.
We had an amazing week here looked after by Martin, Carolina and the team. The shooting was fantastic and the home comforts were great – all in the middle of the Uruguayan countryside. Special mention to Will and his expert cheffing skills. We will be back!!
