The person who works there late afternoon on Thursdays, is not very friendly. We went there an hour prior to close, we wanted to see cats for our family to adopt. She begrudgingly let us in. She wouldn’t allow us to socialize with any of the cats, she said all the ones that were im the cages were unsocialized. Seems to me she just wanted to close up shop and leave an hour early. Humane society in general does great work, but if you are going to adopt I suggest Bergen County Animal Shelter in Teterboro. We adopted a rabbit from there and vastly different experience.

Excellent experience. We love our new dog so much and would recommend adopting a pet from here!

This shelter was amazing in helping me find a new family member for me and my 5-year-old son! 😊 I spotted this little cutie on April 21, but had to wait until April 25 to bring her home since she was only 4 months old and needed her booster shot. 😩 It was NULL for the kitten, but honestly, in this inflation crazed economy, it was no problem!
The first day I brought her home, she was ready to explore and quickly adapted to my family. She’s such a sweetheart! 🥰 She even started loving car rides and going outside. I mean, the shelter said she didn’t get out much being in a cage, so it’s no wonder she was ready to take on the world! 🌍 I really wish I had gotten the names of the lady who helped me apply and the guy who let me play with her before shot day. 🥰 I can’t wait to see her grow, and I’ll definitely be back with more updates!
And just to add, there was no discrimination at all, which is so important nowadays. Finding a comfortable place for anything can be tricky, but this shelter made it a breeze!

We adopted 2 precious kittens here yesterday after we sadly and suddenly lost our 11 year old cat. The volunteer was very caring, helpful, kind, and patient. Our two daughters and myself took quite a awhile to pick our kittens. They have a lot of great kittens and cats to choose from and they all look healthy, playful, and happy. The adoption process was smooth. The fee was NULL/kitten cash only so grab some before you go. That may seem like a lot but it’s good considering they have been dewormed, first shots, fiv/leukemia tested and you get a NULL spay/neuter certificate to have the kitten fixed when proper age. Also it supports the facility in caring for the animals and rehoming them. They have some beautiful friendly adult cats in need of a home as well. They were all very happy and healthy and waiting to be adopted. Check out beautiful Buddy if you go. He is so handsome. I wanted to take him home too. ☺️ Our kittens are adjusting well and are very happy. I highly recommend this place!! Update- 3 years later…I wanted to add that our boys are still healthy and thriving! We love them so much!
