If you’re traveling through Luray, Kansas and searching for a dog-friendly place, Roadside Park stands out as a well-maintained, scenic spot perfect for stretching your legs—whether you’re a local or just passing through. This 40-acre park features lush green grass, open fields, shaded playgrounds, and covered picnic tables, making it a welcoming spot for dog owners and families alike. The park exudes a peaceful, rural Kansas vibe, with plenty of space to walk your dog on pet-friendly trails or enjoy a relaxing break from your journey.
Some unique highlights include historic features like a log cabin and the opportunity to observe a thriving colony of prairie dogs. With clean restrooms, camping hookups, ample parking, and shaded areas, Roadside Park provides everything you need for a comfortable visit. While it may not have a designated off-leash or fenced dog area, its open spaces and easy walking routes around the perimeter make it ideal for leashed dog walks and family outings. Look for local events such as hot air balloon festivals and enjoy the pleasant small-town atmosphere that sets this park apart.
This roadside park is well maintained and have a nice bathroom with running water and electric. There is a beautiful cabin that you can explore the energy. There is covered picnic tables. It appears there may be two camping spots. There appears to be two hydrants. I did not check to see if they were running or not.
The park employee smokes when going in to the restrooms(not sure what he was doing-cause no cleaning was done). Talk about disgusting behavior for a city employee. When using the restroom, the doors are set so high you can see from the knees down it was uncomfortable using the toilet, being a female. The outside light for the woman’s restroom was not working, which made it uncomfortable after dark- since you turn the light off inside, the men’s worked. Makes a female wonder why.
This was a clean park and a great place to get out and stretch our legs. The kids really enjoyed the swings. The are camper hookups and clean restrooms. My favorite thing was the log cabin, though! It was the first in the country and really interesting to see and to read the history.
A good place to park your camper. Clean restrooms and general area.
Very clean
