FAQ for Rocktown Trail in Lucas Kansas:
A great hike-walk to the water and back. Plenty of lizards, birds, and scenic beauty.
Easy to find if you put the trail name in GPS. The trail is slightly less than 3 miles altogether ( there and back) The trail is grassy, sandy, has some holes, etc. Has some decent hills but not horrible. The view once you reach the formations is beautiful!
Really fun! We took our baby in the stroller and had a blast exploring the formation area. That said, I would not necessarily call this trail stroller friendly. It was doable between the two of us and our capable Uppababy Cruz V2 stroller. There were a few places we had to lift it together and carry it, but overall it wasn’t bad with the stroller because we don’t mind having to put a little effort it if it means we don’t have to strap him to us the whole time.Half of the trail was SIGNIFICANTLY more stroller friendly. The only tough areas were a few steep inclines that took a little extra effort to push it up. If you have a stroller that can handle bumpy paths pretty well like ours, I would suggest going to the left when the loop starts and then going back that same way after you visit the rock formations. The other half of the trail is much rockier and has more hills. Also, there are a lot of stickers so keep that in mind if you bring a dog!
Beautiful artistry done by the couple! Thank you for the backstory a few years back! Amazing, keep livin the dream
Beautiful hike through Kansas prairie! Not too strenuous but still enough for a good workout. Trail is ~3 miles. We took a shortcut we could see on Google maps. The views once you get to the lake are great! Kansas is such an underrated state when it comes to its natural beauty.
Beautiful trail through the rolling hills above Wilson Lake. Prominent and stunning rock formations about a mile in. Great trail for cross country skiing with a few challenging inclines. There’s also a nice campground with facilities and a swim beach so you can spend the night or just take a day trip.
