Located at 61 1st St in Lowell, MA, Centralville Dog Park offers a convenient, pet-friendly space for dog owners seeking a quieter spot in town. This dedicated dog park features a decently sized, fenced-in area where dogs can run off-leash, and it’s often described as peaceful and less crowded—making it ideal for owners whose pups prefer a low-key environment. Double-gated entry points help with safety, and several benches and shaded spots provide comfort for visitors.
While you’ll find some scenic walking by the river and opportunities for nearby strolls, the dog park itself is best for play or quick exercise. Benches and sitting areas are available, but owners should note there is currently no easily visible water source for dogs, so bringing water is recommended. Despite past concerns about nearby encampments, those issues have been addressed, and the park now sees regular use and continued community efforts toward improvement.
Large enough space and 2 double gated entry/ exit points. There usually is not other dogs there which is perfect for my dogs. The times we have gone it was empty. And all the times I’ve driven by there has never been more than 3 cars in the lot. People do park there for various reasons so even with 3 cars in the lot that doesn’t mean there are 3 or more dogs in the park. There are some benches and stones that you can sit on that are in a shady area. The only thing that is missing is a place to get water. There might be a place and I just haven’t seen it. There is a dog house or two as well.
Tent city behind it is gone. Place is usually empty. It’s small but in decent shape. It’s also next to the river ,good for walking your dog.
The metal doors are dysfunctional on both sides. When you come to the park the small holding area on the right hand side the exterior doors broken if you look to the left and can’t meant for a small area for dogs the inside gate left side is broken. These need to be fixed immediately. My dog actually got hurt and was a victim because of the fact that the door was not able to hold in place and a husky split open my dog’s ear and he had a puncture wound on the side that was bleeding in my car
Although this park has never been great, it’s had better days. There is a group which has been attempting to improve the site, but they’ve had limited success.
Posted rules signs have been removed.
Unfortunately, there is a homeless encampment just behind it, and the park appears to be regularly used over nights with drug paraphernalia having been reported.
Dog park is a nice place to take your dog but it’s had a bit of a downfall because there is a homeless encampment right behind it. The homeless people keep to them selves and are hardly a bother. But you definitely have to keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary and make sure everything is OK with your surroundings. Very room park and the people are always kind and the dogs are all friendly. Since this review the Homeless encampment had been taken down.
