Located in Louisville, Kentucky, Seneca Park Loop offers dog owners and their four-legged friends a beautiful green space that’s perfect for enjoying scenic walks, pet-friendly trails, and vibrant community life. The paved loop is approximately 4.4 miles long, welcoming both walkers and bikers, and surrounded by lush trees, blooming flowers, and views of the on-site golf course. Expect a lively atmosphere with local wildlife, shady paths, picnic areas, and convenient neighborhood access. While primarily used for walking and running, the park is a great place for dog-friendly outings or relaxing by the benches under mature trees.
Although not a dedicated dog park, Seneca Park Loop is a highly regarded spot for pet-friendly recreation in Louisville. There is ample open space for strolls with your dog, and the trail is well-maintained with paved paths for easy walking. The park features playgrounds for kids, tennis and basketball courts, areas for picnicking, and convenient parking. Shade is abundant, and seating is available throughout the park – perfect for catching your breath or enjoying a quiet break with your pup.

The loop was great. I truly enjoy being outside enjoying the trees starting to bloom flowers. The chirping birds and the dew on the leaves is refreshing. The loop gives all of that along with a breathtaking golf course. One negative is the traffic zipping by. But it is a sure plus, the terrain is manageable with a few hills but lot of flat areas too. Great area for walking/ running.
Just did the Seneca Park Loop, a fully paved trail shared with bicycles. It is about 4.4 miles per my fitbit. We parked at the Bowman Field terminal building lot and started there. You could easily start from a location within Seneca Park. While the portion along Taylorsville Rd and Cannons Ln are fairly noisy the park section are more peaceful. Just be aware of bicycles sharing the path, all the bicyclist coming up behind us did alert us of passing on the right.
Currently there is no signage about any policy using this trail so you can proceed in any direction you choose.
Enjoy the small aircraft landing and taking off.
