🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Located in the heart of Cherokee Park, Cochran Hill Dog Run offers Louisville dog owners a spacious, well-maintained, and secure spot for their canine companions. This members-only dog park features special areas for both large and small dogs, as well as a third area for dogs needing extra space or gradual socialization. It’s a favorite among local pet owners thanks to its thoughtful layout, wheelchair accessibility, comfortable seating, and added amenities such as a picnic bench, gazebo, and several park benches.
What sets Cochran Hill Dog Run apart is its dog-centric facilities, including wading pools for cooling off and a hose/washing station for easy cleanup after water play. The park is securely fenced, allowing off-leash play, and memberships are managed through Feeders Supply, ensuring all dogs are vaccinated and safe to mingle. While it’s conveniently located, some visitors note occasional noise from nearby traffic, so you may prefer quieter times during your visits. Overall, it’s a vibrant, dog-friendly space in Louisville, Kentucky that’s perfect for both energetic pups and their humans!
This is a great dog park. It’s huge! They have two areas big and little and the big dog park even has a dog washing station!
Great dog park!
Nice area to run your dogs and pools to cool off!
Its nice and spacious. Clean. Fun. I gave it a 3 because. They put it on top of the hill beside the parks department, which is pretty much a dirty mess at all time. And the noise from that and noise from the I-64 tunnel makes it a quick trip for me. Taking your pet to a dog park is supposed to be relaxing and a bonding experience, instead the dogs seem to be on edge due to the constant noise of semi-trucks and horns beeping inside the tunnel which the dog park sits on top of. Clearly who ever made the decision on this location does not have a pet. So yeah i think 3 stars is being generous.
The dog park here is maintained by grounds staff reasonably well. The large dog park is a bit small compared to Tom Sawyer and others in the area but still a good place to let the dogs run around. You will need to fill out an application with feeders supply and show proof of vaccinations to become a member. The dues for membership are yearly but relatively inexpensive.
Our dog Harley is a member of the Cochran Hill Dog Club. Members are allowed to bring guests and she frequently brings us with her for visits to romp with her Buddies.
They have a big dog and a little dog side and sometimes the difference is based on personality not height or weight. They also have a third area which I believe is for dogs who are having a difficult time being polite with others. There’s a picnic bench and a gazebo and a couple of scattered park benches for guests to rest on. Lots of room for running. There’s even a hose and washing station as well as a couple of wading pools that members can splash around in. I’d suggest bringing a towel and shampoo in case your dog enjoys the water and your car doesn’t want to get too trashed.
Great dogs here, only occasionally do you find an aggressive member and the guests they bring with them seems eager to help out when there’s a problem with a member’s temperament.
