Called multiple times to no answer. Went to the location and no one was there except for an ‘Eye in the sky’ camera saying ‘Hello? Hello?’ A tech showed up about 10 minutes later, sawing they weren’t accepting puppies and that at they’re ? per puppy when they are. The poor tech looked like she could use some help.

Property and dog care areas are clean, but lack of staff is disheartening.

I’m a veterinarian, toured the shelter yesterday and found a much nicer facility than some suburban shelters. clean comfortable indoor/outdoor kennels and outdoor pens for dogs and indoor enclosures for cats, plus covered outdoor enclosures with cat houses for the local feral colony to freely come and go (they’re all sterilized as soon as they can be caught). Public facing staff is very limited due to lack of funds, but they do have reliable kennel staff and they are very clean, minimal odor even in cat rooms with messy cats. Please keep calling until someone gets back to you. This shelter does not receive any county funds, relying solely on donations and personal funds. The surrender and adoption fees for most shelters are a drop in a bucket compared to the cost of the vet care the rescue supports. They try very hard to get every animal spayed/neutered and vaccinated before adoption. So by the time you adopt a rescue resident, they’ve frequently already spent at least ? or more in routine wellness/preventive vet care alone, if they’ve gotten a substantial discount on the surgeries. If not, you can probably double that. Often they’ve spent more because the animal wasn’t healthy at intake. Please consider making a donation, adopting a pet (esp cats), or volunteering to keep this shelter going strong.
