Southern Harrison Trail Parking is a convenient dog-friendly location situated along Lost Creek Road in Lost Creek, West Virginia. This spot makes a great access point for pet owners looking to enjoy the scenic beauty of the area with their furry companions. While it is not a dedicated traditional dog park, it serves as a perfect gateway to pet-friendly trails, allowing visitors and locals alike to explore the beautiful outdoors with their dogs.
The area is known for easy trail access, welcoming dog owners for casual strolls or dog-friendly hiking adventures. Although there is limited information about on-site amenities like fenced dog areas, water stations, or seating, its location at the trailhead makes it a great choice for those seeking open-air exercise with their pets in the Lost Creek region. Enjoy peaceful walks and the charm of West Virginia’s trails with your four-legged friend.
The north trail head is in a neighborhood with no dedicated parking. About 12 mile away, there is a dog park and boat ramp (adjacent to the VA hospital) with plenty of access, which is what I used.
The South trail head has about 10 spaces shared with a local park, there were no cars in it when I rode by.
There were no restrooms that I noticed at either trail head or asking the trail.
The trail is gravel, generally in good shape, although there is a bridge getting repaired that cannot be used… you have to divert to the adjacent roadway for about a quarter mile, speed limit about 45, not to scary.
I took away stars for the lack of water or restrooms, impassable bridge, and no posted information for better parking at the north trailhead.
Overall, a nice ride, but no restrooms or other services. There is plenty of parking if you look about. I will ride it again, parking at the boat ramp…
Sep2025 update… Trail is still nice, but there are several areas of recently upturned dirt suggesting a lot of storm out other drainage work. Other than somewhat soft soul, totally passable.
The closed bridge mentioned above is open again. The trail easily rates 4 stars, since no water or restroom facilities except for the single toilet at the Lost Creek end.
This is a great trail head for the Harrison County South Rail Trail! There is plenty of parking, a bathroom with running water and electricity, and a shelter with a few picnic tables! I recommend a Mountain Bike for this trip. I am impressed! Great job Harrison County! Mile markers were just recently added to the entire trail! You can bike from Lost Creek all the way to the VA Park in Clarksburg.
I have no idea where the trail was…looked like I was supposed to go between the houses and garage so didn’t
I like that u can usually get away from the crowed take the dog 4 a walk
Plenty of parking available here for trail access as well as a small public restroom
